This water bottle holder pattern is a simple lace stitch that’s a 4 row repeat, making it pretty easy to memorize!

Details

Measurements: 8 1/2” (21cm) x 4 1/2” (11cm) Wide, laying flat without strap
Weight: 1.6oz (45g)

Notes

Not reversible.

Knit from the top down.

You can try it on the water bottle as you go.

I knit mine a little smaller than the bottle because it stretches when you wear it.

Pick a soft yarn because it rubs on your neck (I like the dishie yarn, it’s soft & comfortable to wear, no this isn’t sponsored, it’s just my opinion).

When knitting in the round, you’re always knitting the right side of your work.

The only difference between the 16.9oz version and the 24oz version is the height.

Sling Pattern, Knit in the Round, Magic Loop Method:

Using size US 7 needles

Round 1: *K2TOG, YO* K1

Round 2: *K*

Round 3: *YO, SKP* K1

Round 4: *K*

*16.9oz : Repeat rounds 1-4, 7 more times, for a total of 8 times.

*24oz : Repeat rounds 1-4, 10 more times, for a total of 11 times.

Next 3 Rounds: *K*

Decrease for the bottom:

Next Round: *K5, K2TOG* K1 (decrease 4 STS, 25 STS remaining)

Next Round: *K4, K2TOG* K1 (decrease 4 STS, 21 STS remaining)

Next Round: *K1, K2TOG* K1 (decrease 4 STS, 9 STS remaining)

Next Round: *K2TOG* K1 (decrease 4 STS, 5 STS remaining)

Do not bind-off. Leave a tail, about 8″ (20cm), and pull it through the remaining STS. Pull tight and push through the center hole to the inside and weave in the ends.

Strap Pattern, Knit Flat:

Using size US 11 needles

CO 7 STS (or any odd number of STS)

Every row: *K1, P1* K1 (seed stitch)

Repeat until desired length, keep in mind that it’ll stretch a couple of inches when wearing with the weight of a water bottle. (I knitted mine until it was 41” (104cm) long, with a little tugging as I went, it ended up being 48” (122cm) long after wearing it.)

Seam the straps onto the sling, be careful not to twist the strap. :)
