Needle Size: US 7 (4.5mm) Circular Needles with a 32” (80cm) Cable, or longer, or DPNs
Extras: Stitch Marker

Gauge

21 STS & 29 rounds per 4” (10cm) square, knit in stockinette stitch & knit in the round using the magic loop method.

Measurements: 3 3/4″ wide x 6 1/2″ (9cm x 17cm)
Weight: 1.9oz (55g)

Size

US 8.5 women’s shoe size.

Notes

Not reversible.
Knit top down.
Knit using the rib & stockinette stitch.
Knit holding 2 strands of yarn together throughout.
Knit in the round with a circular needle, when knitting in the round you’re always knitting the right side of your work.

Knitting Abbreviations

*– * – repeat between * to end of round
BO – bind-off in pattern
CO – cast-on (long-tail cast-on method)
INC1 – make 1 stitch (I use a backwards loop)
K – knit stitches (K1 means to knit 1 stitch)
P – purl stitches (P2 means to purl 2 stitches)
PM – place marker
STS – stitches

Pattern Instructions

Knit in the Round, Magic Loop Method:

Knit holding 2 strands of yarn together

CO 40 STS, PM, split 20 STS on each needle, join in the round.

Rounds 1-5: *K1, P1*

Rounds 6-22: *K* (about 3 1/2” (8cm), from beginning)

Decrease stitches to create the hole for your heel:
Round 23: BO 20 STS, knit the remainder of the round

Increases stitches to close the hole for your heel:
Round 24: INC1 20 times, knit the remainder of the round. Split 20 STS on each needle, PM, join in the round.

Note: You want the same number of STS you started with.

Rounds 25-40: *K* (about 3 1/4” (8cm))

Rounds 41-44: *K1, P1*

Round 45: BO loosely in the K1, P1 pattern.

Knit the second the same as the first.

No blocking required.

Weave in the ends.
